....I love APPLES

Hello there lovely girls.  Does anybody else share my IPAD love.  I don't have one yet (I say yet, as I am leaving hints to MM as I think it would make a fabulous birthday present!!!!)  Anyway, how easy would it be to read your fave book/mag anywhere.  When I go on holiday, my hand luggage is always so full of magazines and books - I would like to travel a little lighter and the IPAD delivers on that one  - more space for those 'shopping must haves'.  Granted, you can't beat a good book (in the physical sense I mean) but just for convenience it would be fabulous.  I "test drove" one last week and it was  easy to navigate (just like all apple products).  There are a few drawbacks though.  I am not sure if I should wait until there is an updated model or dive right in now.  You can't download pics to blogger for example.  Although I believe there will be an "app" one day - but when? and also no usb ports or disc drive.  But for convenience sake (particularly when travelling) are they really necessary?

I was "perusing" the lovely  Brooke Giannetti's blog at Velvet and Linen and she has found a fabulous interiors "app" to download and read on the IPAD.  There are over 200,000 apps to purchase now so I am sure I will find something!!!

I am such a lover on my iphone and imac that it just seems like a natural progression to get the IPAD.  Apple have just released their new mini imac too.  Oh  my goodness, should I go for that one instead?  Decisions, decisions, but seriously does anyone out there (yes, including all of you lovely "lurkers") know any interesting info about either one?  I would really love to hear if anybody knows about any "can't live without" apps for the IPAD too.

.....oh what a Joy

Margaret and Joy are two very inspirational and creative women whom obviously (after reading a little about their story below) complement each other in more ways than one.

They were kind enough to allow me to use one of their beautiful images as my header. 

Joy Kilpatrick and Margaret Elman met many years ago as creative directors at an advertising agency in New York City.  This is where they first fell in love with food photography, the ongoing quest for the ultimate farmer's market salad recipe and each other's design sensibilities.  They worked together on a variety of brands, including Nestle and Kraft Foods and created many campaigns with some of the industry's most amazing photographers, stylists and directors.

Eventually, Margaret and Joy went on to start a bespoke furniture design company together called Chair Couture that has been featured in design magazines throughout the world.

And now, in another attempt to follow the path of creativity and self-actualization, they are shooting together and loving every
minute of it.

Here are just a few more examples of their beautiful work.

...Dressing Table Vignette

I love my Victorian dressing table, my husband bought it for me as a surprise 30th birthday present (quite a few years ago!!!).  I love dressing tables in general, there are so many different types, from antique to ultra modern but I wonder if they are going out of "fashion"  Do you remember "Carrie's" mirrored  DT in  the first Sex and the City movie?  Loved it.

If you look through the mirror, you will just see my own "Time Framed" memorabilia.  If you didn't already know, this is what I do.  My lovely clients give me their personal memorabilia, I then make a "vignette" of the items, write about each one of them, then have them boxed framed.  They can be themed ie, wedding, travels or  a complete story of your life.  If you would like to see more of my work, please go here.  I will put a close up of mine on the site if you would like to have a look.

...Roll on holidays...

Hmmmm an interesting time.  My eldest son is nearly at the end of his uni exams (until next term) and middle son in the middle of year 12 exams.  They are sitting the GAT exam today which can't be studied for - more of a general knowledge test.  Thank goodness little son (grade 6) doesn't have exams right now.  Can't wait for the holidays to start next week.

Happy birthday to our beautiful middle son Cameron.  There is not a day goes by that you don't make us laugh.  You are such a lovely soul and we love you very much.  Hope you enjoyed your party. (now get back to studying!!!!!!) xxxxxx

......A Love Story

I know I have been talking about alot of movies lately, but another to add to the "must see" list is "Letters to Juliet".

Oh how beautiful it was.  A love story starring  the fabulous Vanessa Redgrave, what a gentle soul - you just want to kiss her.  Amanda Seyfried was her usual lovely self (great actress, so natural) and not to mention our very own (Sydney born) Christopher Egan.  He has his British accent downpat and I must say, he is very delicious.

The whole movie makes you want to visit Verona RIGHT NOW.

As we all have increasingly busy lives, I find myself "shopping" more and more online.  My favourite place to shop at the moment is a fabulous very glam website called Pinklily

Sascha Griffin is the very entrepreneurial owner and founder.  She invented the original "clear shoe box".   Her online shop has so many glamorous items from storage to bling  It really is well worth a visit, oh and the service is fantastic - guaranteed next day delivery in Sydney and usually two days anywhere else in Australia.  And as an added treat, wait to see how it arrives - specially packaged  in her "signature hot pink" of course, couriered straight to your door.

I know this isn't really a "pretty" or "inspiring" post but I thought I would share a little bit about what is happening in my world.  I purchased Gold Class tickets for my husband Nick, my youngest and myself to see "The Prince of Persia".  I didn't really think I would enjoy it, but since I am always dragging them to my "chick flicks" I thought it was their turn. Well, wasn't I surprised - it was fabulous.  If you would like to watch it (really, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!!!), remember to scroll to the bottom and turn off my playlist.

......Plexi Craft

I have always loved the old "LV" trunks used as storage/tables although, they are very hard to find and expremely expensive.  I think I have found a new fave.  What do you think of this beauty, complete with brass and leather "hardware" and only $377.  The only down side is, she is custom made in NY but where there is a will, there is a way. Have a look here at more (oh and look at the mirrored chest of drawers - very Sex and the City!)  Would love to know what you think.

...my Tiffany Tree

I have started a new tradition this year.  As all my friends know, I love Christmas and a few years ago for my fortieth birthday, I was lucky enough to be given a few Swarovski crystal ornament decorations and Tiffany Christmas charms.  I have been adding to these over the last couple of years also including Cathy Penton's beautiful charms with my family members names on them and various other Christmas themed charms.  The Tiffany charms are hung by strips of fine white organza ribbon or fine silver chains.  These are all hung from a lovely tree with dark chocolate coloured limbs with smatterings of snow.  I hope to post some pictures shortly (when the children and I can find the usb connection for the camera - so frustrating.  We had better find it soon, we have a few family Christmas functions coming up).  But in the meantime, here is a pretty picture of some crystal Christmas ornaments.

...civilized camping!!!

My two younger boys and husband love camping.  I have tried to love it.  I have even tried to like it. They do everything possible to make my camping experience comfortable, but it's still not something I enjoy. It cannot be said I haven't tried - I have, many times.

Perhaps I could be persuaded to camp in this beautiful library. (nup, still don't think so).

...Christmas Shopping and Wrapping

Isn't this a pretty picture.  Well, this weekend I will finish my Christmas shopping.  I will brave the crowds first thing in the morning so I shouldn't find it too hard to get a park if I leave early.Then if I am super organised, I will have them all wrapped by Sunday.  I love wrapping - it gets all my creative juices flowing.  I bought the most beautiful wrapping paper this year.  I usually have different themes every year.  Last year, all my wrapping paper was gloss white with different colour wide grosgrain ribbon.  This year, I have three different colour papers.  Red, gold and silver and the paper is made up of glitter. I have  beautiful glitter ribbons in the same colours but will alternate the ribbons with the paper ie red paper, silver ribbon etc.  It sparkles at night under the tree when the twinkle lights hit the glitter and in the morning too when the sun shines on them.  The paper is a beautiful thick quality and believe it or not, I got them all from Big W.

This afternoon, in a very brave attempt, my middle son, Cameron and I are going to make these as gifts for friends.   Should be fun. I dont actually know the origin of these photos (sorry) but they look very "Martha" don't you think?

I have now seen "A Christmas Carol" 3d with Jim Carey twice, once with girlfriends and once with the family.  We all loved it.  Highly recommended (bit scary for little ones though).

....a bit of pampering

Haven't had much time to post this week.   Have booked a week away with the girls  for a bit of R & R and pampering but  husband has decided at the 11th hour to  have a fiftieth birthday party.  Just means I have to get everything organised  now so I am not panicking when I get back. Oooh I can't wait, friends, warm weather, lots of spa treatments and no cooking or sticking to schedules.  See you when I get back girls.

.......More Pale Blue Love

Not many posts this week, very busy with work and the rest of the time trying to thaw out (icy cold here - quite unlike my dear friends in Brisbane 36 celcius and bushfires!!!-very weird).  Anyway, how cool is this bike?  My kids are a bit too big for this one now, but a few years ago it would definitely have been on my "must have" list.

Looking Pretty Desperate - Not!

...it is a chore but someone's gotta do it.  The weather is looking lovely, so getting the garden back to it's "pre-winter" state might be on the agenda too.  Happy weekend girls.  

Finding Balance

Work is so busy at the moment which is fantastic, lots of changes, all for the good but I find my time management skills could be much improved.  Suggestions anyone?  

I am an avid list maker - I couldn't get by without one but I am finding I need more balance, more time to meditate perhaps!  Couldn't get through my day without that one either.

Be careful what you ask for!@@#!$!#!@

Well, here I was, in the middle of cooking dinner, and all of a sudden, this horrific noise from the front of the house.  The kids come running downstairs, "muuuummmmm, someone's gone through the front fence". 

We all ran outside and there was my poor neighbour, standing there saying, "my brakes failed, my brakes failed".  

Oh well, could be worse, no one was hurt.  She did a really good job of it though, the double gates, the side gate, two posts and the letterbox - totally obliterated.  I was only saying last week that I would like the fence painted! I should be careful what I ask for!!!@#$

It's Raining, it's pouring

It's pouring in Melbourne, and so warm considering it's winter ( although Spring is in sight!!!) - 16.5 celsius (62 farenheit) overnight!!!  We need the rain, our dams are about a quarter full.  So nice (and rare) that the whole family is home together on a weekend.  I think a roast will be on the menu for dinner.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend girls.
